It’s been a productive week at the Tommy Douglas Conference with ATU local leaders from across the U.S. and Canada taking part in innovative trainings. An Advanced Arbitration training is teaching attendees new skills and strategies for negotiating strong contracts. A training on Public Engagement is helping local leaders polish their public speaking, communications, and coalition-building skills. The attendees also appeared as guests on the Baltimore radio talk show, Lunch with Labor, sponsored by Local 1300-Baltimore, MD. All of the lessons learned this week will prove vital in our efforts to engage members more deeply in the work of the union and to build common cause with riders and like-minded organizations that fight for Labor and public transit in their communities.
